Convert FIT to GPX turn a Garmin .fit activity into a GPX track, on your device
Drop a .fit file and download it as GPX 1.1 in one click. The GPX keeps the position, elevation and time of every point, with heart rate, cadence, temperature and power when the file has them. If the file is damaged, it is read up to its last valid point and you can repair it before converting.

What the GPX file contains
Track
One track point per recorded position, with latitude, longitude, elevation and time (UTC).
Heart rate, cadence, temperature
In the TrackPointExtension used by Garmin, which most apps that read GPX understand.
Power
In an extension of each point, when the activity recorded power.
What GPX cannot hold
Laps, calories, the sport and the summary: GPX is a track format. For laps, use FIT to TCX.
Good to know
Points without a position are left out of the GPX: an indoor activity (treadmill, home trainer) has no GPX track. Use TCX or CSV, which keep every point.
Impossible positions (0°, 0°, points outside the globe, jumps across the map) can be cleared with one repair before converting, so the GPX draws a clean line.
The FIT file stays the best file to import back into Garmin Connect or Strava: it keeps everything. GPX is for maps, route planners and apps that do not read FIT.
Example
The sample “Healthy bike ride” above the drop zone is a one-hour ride recorded every second: its GPX has 3,601 track points. The first one:

How do I convert a FIT file to GPX?
Drop the .fit file on this page. Once it is read, click “GPX” in the download block: the GPX file is created on your device and saved by your browser.
Is the conversion done on a server?
No. The file is read and converted by this page, on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Does the GPX keep heart rate?
Yes, with cadence and temperature, in the TrackPointExtension. Power is kept in an extension of each point.
Why is my GPX empty?
The activity has no GPS position: an indoor activity, or a watch that never found a GPS signal. Export it as TCX or CSV instead.
Can I convert a corrupt FIT file to GPX?
Yes. A damaged file is read up to its last valid point, and the repairs proposed on the same page can clear wrong positions before you export.
